NUS (Joint) Alumni Happy Hour 2008

FINALLY, autumn has arrived. And, for the month of October, NUS Alumni in HK - Happy Hour would take a slight twist. We'll be having a joint happy hour session with the Singaporeans in HK and Malaysisns in HK groups - which means that it will be the biggest Happy Hour yet! 1. Labour Day - 1 May 2008 (Thursday)
2. Buddha's Birthday - 12 May 2008 (Monday)
3. NUS-HK Alumni Happy Hour - 8 May 2008 (Thursday)

The difference amongst the three are: unlike Labour Day and the Buddha’s Birthday which happen only once yearly, our NUS Alumni in HK - Happy Hour happens once every month! For those of you who missed our Dinner Gathering on the 14 December 2007, here's another chance for you to meet up with other fellow alumnus.

Hello everyone, this is Kin Ching, the webmaster. First and foremost, thanks to Wai San for giving me the opportunity to have a bit of fun here. I hope I can do my job well.

My first announcement though, is not about the website. Instead, it is for the Christmas gathering that we are planning! Check out the details as follows:

Gathering to Lantau Island
Date: 25 December 2007 (Yes, it's Christmas Day, so feel free to wear your Santa hats)
Time: 12pm
Meeting Venue: Tung Chung MTR Station (the end station of the, erm... Tung Chung Line)
Program Outline: Visit to the Po Lin Monastry and the Big Buddha, a vegetarian lunch at the monastry, Tai O the (former) fishing village, boat rides to see dolphins, etc etc.

Personal Contemplations

Without trying to turn this into my personal space, I am writing to ensure that whoever comes to this blog - will see something new, rather than keep on seeing my previous posts about the weather.

The weather is acting up strange, and it's getting a bit dry lately. Do drink more water and apply moisturising cream often to protect your skin!

The Weather

As I was going home after my lessons this evening, I noticed that the weather has been getting a bit cooler. It's still warm, but it wasn't as warm as it was in July. Perhaps authmn is coming?

I somehow always seem to think that when it's hot, Hong Kong can be hotter than Singapore. I mean, both Hong Kong and Singapore are humid places so warm days are particularly hard to bear, but somehow it just seems to me that the heat level in Singapore is perhaps still bearable, but the heat in Hong Kong is just so hard to handle. Oh well, I'm a winter animal after all - I can't wait for winter!

Oh and another thing, if you guys happen to have meals at the Festival Walk food court, please avoid the Thai food stall at all costs - the stuffs there are just not worth the money that you have to fork out. I had a curry dunno-what with fried rice, and it definitely wasn't worth the $40 I paid for.

Talking about food, maybe the next time we should organize a makan trip to Sham Tseng for the roast goose!

My First Post

First of all, thanks to Wai San for initiating this. I've been writing blogs for about 7 years but this is the first time that I'm writing in a Group Blog. At this moment, I feel like a kid going to school for the first time and not knowing what to expect. But, I'm sure I'll get on alright.

Right now, I'm just sitting around in my office in Kowloon Tong, waiting to for lunchtime (while keeping myself busy by reading a lot of documents). Well, I'm new on the job, so there's a lot of stuff to read up on! In the meantime, if any of you happen to be around the Kowloon Tong, come get me for lunch! (although the furthest I can go is City Festival Walk since I have only an hour for lunchtime and it starts at 1pm sharp)

Till then, have a great weekend everyone. So, when's our Alumni dinner/lunch gathering?
